I never thought I would be working with refugees and non-native speakers, but I am and I LOVE it--especially when you have wonderful students like Murelle who is from Cameroon.
Anybody need a ride?
Some students like to show you their new toys. Farnood's (who is from Iran) new scooter. Makes America more fun.
Borrowing from your students is a good thing.
Some even let you ride their scooter.

Good bye rural living. This city girl is going home.
A friend who helps you move back home is precious.
You bond so much during coursework that they even help you move.
Climbing Walls is Natural
Sometimes you are overhwlemed and find yourself climbing a wall.
Travel in packs
PHd students either live a solitary life or travel in packs. No in between.
Breaking stuff is a good release
Sometimes you just have to break things.
Hiding is also normal.
A good hiding place always comes in handy.
Normal to feel lost
Sometimes you feel completely lost in PhD land and need a good map.
Sometimes it is sad to say goodbye to a classmate.

When you are away at school, you need a home to come to. I went to Linda's.

A cool thing about being in PhD program is you meet people from all over the world. Henny is from Indonesia. I taught her how to stuff a turkey.

Good luck with your dissertation! I have a google alert on my name and was sent this. Glad my second book is included. You may be interested also in my last book, Everyman News, as in one chapter I assert that the next step in narrative therapy is the therpaeutic, healing effects of narrative journalism, whihc is why the genre is so popular.
